552 p-51
Hello im new to to the site. Im building a flat top 552 with p51 @ 14.1 with a motorsports intake. Im going to have my heads shaved about 30ths. My cam will be 824/792 &285/292 @ 50 on a 112. With about 250-300 on a fogger. My car is stock suspension and is 2860 with me in it on a 28 in tire 3:73 gear 9 inch with a glide. Hopeing to run 5.20-5.30 with this set up. The car went 5.45@131 with my 521 motor. If you guys can help in any way let me know what i need to do different with the new build

I.m.o. i'd run more than the 7* split between the int. and exh. duration and a wider lsa.

Re: 552 p-51
Tell me why because i had the cam in the 521 it was 285/300@50 on a 114. The cam man at bullet told me that i was going to have to hit with about 500 on the fogger and i dont want to hit it that hard. This is the same cam out of the 521 just regrinding it

put this cam back in, and if you have to spray more than 150 to get to your goal you got other issues.

No cam is fine i slung a rod in the old combination and just wanted to have it checked and i wanted to run more on the motor hoping to run 5.80 or so and then spray it with about 250 and get to that 5.20 goal

You put the 'bottom end' in it when you moved up to the 4.500" crankshaft.
The cam that was in the 521" is a better fit in the 545".......more cubes and compression.

Re: 552 p-51
I spray 200 in an IS plate and run 5 teens @ almost 3100#s. 563 worked p51s and damn near the same cam as the 114 deal......and thats leavin soft or I kill the oil pan and front suspension on re entry.

Re: 552 p-51
Who knows what's perfect but, aint no way I'd run tighter than 113*. With the spray I'm still thinking 114*
Having said that ...there can be a lot of difference in lobes with the same @.050" #s. The @.020" and @.200" #s can very much effect the tq. curve of an engine.

Re: 552 p-51
again if that 114 cam aint hurt put it back in and run it...................and youll need the small jets and I understand the tire deal, but if the tracks good I dont see it being an issue.

Re: 552 p-51
I couldn't even think of running mine with out the progressive, it went 1.18 the other weekend on the motor alone.............. Put your cam in at 112 to start, if you use the 114 cam it will be close.
