ultra lite C6 hybrid
I know its not a glide but I recently put my hands on a C6 that had some cool tricks done to the guts, still use c6 valvebody, pump, input shaft, output shaft, case, pan, and convertor. This can be replicated with all oem parts, non GM. The owner of the trans claims that his nine second old cobrajet mustang picks up two tenths with this trick tranny with very good reliability. I will be working on replicating one soon and I will give updates on how it runs. It has been a pretty well gaurded secret from the ford ss racers for many years. One of my best friends used to build these things back in the 80's and 90's for racers all over the country. He passed away before he could show me how to do one. Can anyone guess what the guts come out of ?

that 904 stuff is weak though, unless its some aftermarket "stronger" stuff it honestly wouldnt be worth the hassle.
put a glide in it and be money and et's ahead lol.

Re: ultra lite C6 hybrid
I will get my hands on a couple of 904 trannys from pull-a-part for the guts, I have plenty of c6 stuff to do one up for a spare. I will probably wait til the tranny in the car breaks before I try the swap. It is probably my downfall but I almost always work against the grain but then again around here racing a Ford used to be taboo also. If I had a buck every time someone has told me why do you race a Ford it is too expensive to build and will never be as fast as a chevy, I could afford to put two glides in the T-Bird!

Check out tscproducts.com , they have a 904 in their comp elim car that's on their site. They manufacture some wiz- bang parts for them too, along with fancy parts for most transmissions.

Re: ultra lite C6 hybrid
with all the radial hype and everyone jumping on the 2 speed T400 bandwagon lots of glides popping up all over real cheap.......... guy could scoop one up for a pretty good deal..........

Yes I saw the tcs stuff, they make some nice parts. What is the advantage of a two speed th400?

Re: ultra lite C6 hybrid
just picked up a 904 from pull-a- part for fifty bucks and they have at least five more on the yard I didn't think these were in such abundance. I should get to doing the machine work as soon as time permits.

1960 to 1978 as a 904, up untill the mid 90's as a 999.

It's been a nitrous car thing for years now. All the heavy hitter nitrous guys have been running them for years in pro mod, adrl, outlaw type cars. Still can run a lower rear gear and have the benefits or more wheel speed on the start as well as less rpm drop on shift.
I like the glides still.
