I had one do that,only worse in a engine a few yrs back w/Milidon front sump. After further inspection,I found block cracked all the way from#2 main up to cam journal. Cap walk from BADD tune. Check it out good. Good luck;)

Thanks guys, I'm pulling it this winter and going through it. We had pulled the pan and tray out but found nothing that could be hitting it. That piece was actually on the outside top of the tray behind the tray frame itself right where the screen is welded to the tray frame.
