EVERYONE READ this POST
I just had the worst Xmas. I had to bury my nephew in Minnesota he left 3 great children, He was 34 from Carbon Monoxide asphyxiation a couple days before Xmas.
I am not here asking for anything but for you guys to to understand what we found out from the Coroner, After the coroner gave his cause of Death he informed us that my Nephew started his vehicle in the garage and it took a minute max for it to take him down. I was always under the impression it built up from the floor level, but he informed us it being a hot gas coming out of the tail pipe it consumes everything at once...
The Coroner opened our eyes when He told us that Carbon Monoxide in a closed area such as a garage to barn will take you down in a minute or so max.
I never knew it was so fast.. I know I have done some stupid things in my life even running a car in the garage but I never knew it was so fast....
hope your Christmas was better
Randy
I just want to warn you guys so maybe it will save someone you love, like a son, a daughter, sister, brother or ever you....

Sorry for your loss there Coug. That's some good advice. I used to go in the garage and start the car just to put the (race gas) smell in the air during the winter but I will think twice about it now.I had carbon monoxide detectors in the house but has since gone dead. Guess I need to rethink a few things.

Sorry to hear about your loss Coug.
Guess that's why some home inspectors are all over people to put the self closing arms (whatever they are called) on any door that leads from the garage to the house, and that these doors also have good seals on them, to help protect the inside of the house.

Guys I posted this because I was not aware it was so fast and I wanted to make you guys aware so maybe it would open your eyes to how fast it can take you down, and maybe you won't loose someone close to you....Next week he would have been 35....

Sorry for your loss Coug. Starting your car in the garage with the door down is pretty much standard practice up here in the cold zone. I'll pass this on to everyone I know and again you have my condolences.

Sorry for your family loss...
Carbon Monoxide is also "cumulative" is that it takes a human body 8 hours to rid itself of a previous exposure and it can build-up if there is not enough body recovery time.

Sorry to hear about your loss. If I remember correctly co has a binding affinity >200 times greater than oxygen to your red blood cells.

sorry for your loss. I've poisoned myself once by accident, ran the race car with the garage open. I had the car backed in, but I assumed the garage being open I would be ok. I remember my eyes were burning, it was very stupid. I was giving a brief the next day and couldn't concentrate. I went to the ER, 14 hours later I think I had just dipped below the danger level. It was stupid, at the time I was the ground safety officer in the squadron (didn't do much good). Again, sorry for the loss.
