Re: Keith Fulp's 618 A Head Interceptor
Thanks Keith, thats abut what I was thinking. Wish I could afford one What do you think it would run in a car that's lighter, like a 2400# Top Sportsman Type Car?

Re: Keith Fulp's 618 A Head Interceptor
Well...
At 3850# with a soft tune, it ran 8.94 a few weeks ago at Bowling Green.
You can do the math, subtracting 1450#, but it should run in the 7s NA.
It is approaching 200 runs, but still seems fine.
This coming week, I will "break the seal" and pull the lifters out for inspection.
It is my first set of bushing type lifters, and I just want to look at them.
Thanks

Amazing having that much power and reliability. Dont you want to get another race car and swap the engine into it for a few all motor heads up events? When you're done you can still put it back in the 58.
Thanks for sharing the testing.

Dave
Another car is in the thinking stages. I met with Richard Earle about a T/S 58 Ford (made from his 7/8 scale 57 mold.)
The 618 is planned to stay in the 58 until the "Interceptor Lite" 638 is finished.
It will be similar to this engine but will have an aluminum block, smaller bore and 1/2" more stroke..more cam(?)
Thanks !

Re: Keith Fulp's 618 A Head Interceptor
Update....
The 618 now has over 250 runs. Third set of spark plugs. No issues since replacing the pushrods due to top ball wear at 200 passes and a broken intake rocker at about 200 runs.
I still want to pull the lifters for inspection before 2015 racing, since they are my first "bushing" bearing set.
Runs good enough to compete in Super Comp 8.90 last weekend at 3920# and a tad of retard.

I never got around to inspecting the lifters...
Yet.
The lash is staying constant, so I am not super worried, just curious.
As soon as I get around to it, I will post in this thread.
Thanks !

Keith, would these work good with nitrous?

Re: Keith Fulp's 618 A Head Interceptor
The thick deck and 18 bolt pattern of the Trick Flow casting combined with a huge port area, would make a fine nitrous head. I would add a softening "dish" CNC cut to the quench area if desired by the customer.68formalGT wrote:Keith, would these work good with nitrous?

Keith have you put together any other builds like mentioned above?

I have not personally done any 10 liter single carb Interceptor work (yet).
Engine Systems has a couple of Big Bore - short stroke Interceptor engines that dynoed nicely with single gasoline carbs. One engine was about 515" and the other in the mid 540" range. Both used Interceptor heads and Trick Flow cast single 4 intakes with major port and plenum work.
Both were high end builds with big cams. Both made 1100 HP (+-) and pulled strong in higher RPMs.
Thanks!
Keith

I'm sure you looked at your lifters by now. How's everything looking?

I regret to report that I have not touched the car or engine since the last race of 2014. I will check it over in early February, before the first race in Orlando.
Just too much to do....
Thanks
Keith
Orlando race

I had to cancel the trip. Just too much going on at the shop.
I will start at Gainesville on March 6-7 and then run the Gatornationals the following week.
Thanks
