Re: Condolences for Doug Roope
Hey guys, Thanks alot for the thoughts and prayers... My brother Dan, and his wife and I have been quite busy the last couple of days getting all the legal stuff done and in order. With dad being partially disabled, we're doing all of the things that he or any other husband/wife would be doing for their deceased spouse... But it's ok though, he and mom spent all those years learnin' us and growin' us up that now it's our turn to take care of things for them... I'd like to tell you all about our mom, but if you don't mind, I'll just post up a short but to the point obit/eulogy (spelling?) that I wrote up last night so that those who read it and don't/didn't know her would have an idea just how she was:
Betty Joy Roope, has gone to be with our Lord and Savior. Betty passed away at 4:30 pm on Feb. 7, 2013 in her home, after a short battle with cancer, and was surrounded by her family and friends. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother.
She was born Betty Joy Bomar, on Sept. 24, 1946 in Hall, Mt. to Christopher Allen Bomar, and Rosemary Isabel Martin Bomar. She lived in the Missoula and Avon areas as a youth, and later moved to Helena. She attended primary school in Avon, and attended Helena High School. Betty married William Dennis Roope on Aug. 26, 1964. After marriage, they lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for a short time before moving back to Montana. Through the years from 1965 - 1972, and living everywhere from Butte, to Deerlodge, and back to Helena, Betty gave birth to 4 boys, William Allen Ray Roope, Douglas Ray Roope, James Kelly Roope, Daniel Scott Roope, and adopted a 5th in 1979, Michael Lee Roope.
Betty worked numerous different jobs through the years, from waitress, to secretary, to eventually owning/operating several businesses of their own. Betty’s latest ventures were running the family business called Westec Transport, a mobile home moving company. Betty was a sort of Jack of all trades, as she would do whatever it took to see that things were taken care of for the family.
Through her children’s years Betty often took in other kids, and would always treat them as she did her own. She was hard on her children, but fair, and it shows. She never gave more than was deserved, and most of what was given, was earned. Heck, even discipline was earned in some form or another. She was a stern mother, as much as was necessary, but when the time came, she was also the kind, loving, and caring mother that she needed to be. Afterall, she was a mother. And more importantly, she was our mother.
Thanks again guys. We really appreciate all the support...
