C460 valve guides
Who makes the best bullet vslve guides for for c460...
Mostly needing bullets or shorter one on exhaust valve....seems standard hand to far down..

We've had that problem (the ends of the exhaust guides fracturing) for several years now, and it's because of a couple of reasons.
1. They actually used a tapered nose intake guide in the exhaust, when they should have used a bullet nose exhaust guide.
2. The exhaust guides hang out there "naked" and see too much heat in the turbo and big nitrous applications. They cannot pass the heat on to surrounding material, such as in an exhaust guide boss. So the first versions of the Pro-Filer 205 head were they same way, and had the same problem. In the revised edition of the Pro-Filer head, I had them give us an exhaust guide boss, which really helps conduct the heat away from the guide.
3. However, for the C-460 heads, there are three "fixes".
A. Cut the taper end of the guide off, until you gain some thickness. In other words wack about .200" off of it.
B. Replace the tapered guide with a bullt nose guide from CHE in California.
C. Replace the bronze guide with a steel guide/ bronze liner combo, for the really high heat applications. I have the steel guides here.
