new to NOS ! ?
I am use to running pump gas N/A street motors so I am going to ask some questions about to different engine combos.
1st is a sbf 10.5:1 engine with good parts through out runnin a stock 74 351w block.
2nd is a 13.5:1 engine mostly stock parts but all are race prepped and ballanced.
Will be running Msd 6al ignition and no mor than 150 hp of NOs.
Do I need a dedicated fuel pump and supply line for both cars ?
On the pump gas sbf what octane fuel should be run when spraying.
What plate system for an entry level kit do you recomend ?
Thanks

Jon posted an inexpensive system a while back for a guy...I'll try to find it.

Re: new to NOS ! ?
Mike it will depend on your compression and what material your heads are made of and the specs on your camshaft along with some other items.
How good a tune you have and how close to the line are you on being able to run 93 octane.
9 to 1 aluminum heads with good quench and no sharp edges in the combustion chamber area 150 shot with a pump big enough to supply the full at wfo will be fine.
10 to 1 cast iron heads .035 quench and 150 shot may or may not work on 93 octane. More than likely not
You can test the system with both needles open (carb) and flowing through the nos fuel jet to see if it will maintain fuel pressure at both regulators at the setting you need.

ran this kit up to the max jet on Jacobys 383 with a little more spread in the jet w no issues, and the same kit on my 306 but w a bigshot style plate and a 15 jet spread...... made it haul ass.

Re: new to NOS ! ?
On the small block ride it is 10.5:1 and run 93 N/A ,but I figure with 150 hp on a plate system I would need to run 110 octane fuel. The cam thats in it now isn't the Jay Allen cam it is a comp custom grind. The new cam doesn't have as much spread in duration as the old cam did!
On the Big block in the Fairlane it is a cast Iron ported 13.5:1 motor with a small hyd flat tappet cam. I plan on running 150 hp on it too.

Re: new to NOS ! ?
To go along with my Nos questions, which one of these cams would work the best. I am not going to buy a new cam because I am saving that money for a new engine combo. Thanks

I'd prolly stay with the 4.11's.

Re: new to NOS ! ?
I would put the 3.73's if you are going to spray more but for a little 150 shot I would stay 4.11 unless you run out of gear at the big end.

Mostly 1/8 but will be running in the 1/4 in the spring and fall . Twice a year 1/4 mile passes and about 6 passes at each race more if I do well .

Re: new to NOS ! ?
I would say IF you mostly run 1/8 and IF you don't plan to spray that much then leave the 4.10 , but your quarter will slow down more in the quarter running out of rpm than your eighth will be affected running a gear that is slightly too tall. Spray makes tons of torque and that little of a gear change will have little effect on your short times.

Thanks and as I go along I may have some more questions .

Re: new to NOS ! ?
Think of it this way. you need to get to the 1/8th as fast as possible. you need the best 60ft and best 330. 1/8th mile and 1/4 makes no difference to me. in MY experience with the type of car we are talking about here the faster to the 1/8th, the faster to the 1/4 regardless. set it up for the 1/8 mile and if you run the 1/4 awesome. your rpm increase in the extra little bit wont make that much of a difference. if you decided to spray more go with the 3.73s definitively. if it's all motor or the baby shot then stick with the 4.10's

150hp shot is what I plan on putting on it ! Who knows may go more after I get use to it and all of the bugs worked out.
