Re: Any Torino Guys On Here??
Another Torino cousin here, I had a beater '70 Ranchero many years ago. It had a 351C/FMX/9" with subframe connectors, roll bar, leafsprings with the cheap ass "wrought iron fence" looking Lakewood ladder bars. Front suspension had cut 6 cyl springs, shorter '71 mustang front shocks, moved top control arm mount holes. Weighed it at a wrecking/scrap yard scales at 3700lbs, but have no idea how accurate their scales really were.
In the 1/8 mile best motor pass was 7.70, best bottle pass with ancient NOS fat jetting was 6.70 (on fresh slicks). It would spin some and slow to 6.80-6.90 on old slicks with the depth holes gone.

The rollerized spring perches are on my list of mods to do.
Others have used them with success.

Re: Any Torino Guys On Here??
I'm thinking by the time a guy buys all the roller stuff( spring perches, all 4 control arms, and strut rods ) he could put a strut assembly on it and get rid of the shock towers and that dang master cylinder, not to mention some real headers. It would also take a bunch of weight out of it.

Not going to get in a pissing match.
It can be diffcult to get bars set just right
Are you running solid bushings in the leaf springs ? Front springs should be 351 springs with a adjustable shocks. what are you running?

Re: Any Torino Guys On Here??
At first I did the Shelby drop on the top control arms for more positive caster & better camber angles at full extension. But after I lowered the Ranchero a bunch the Shelby drop put the top control arms at too great of an angle at full compression, putting the top ball joints close to a bind. So I moved the upper control arms back up to the original mounting holes that I had modified by moving them backward a little (to keep the increased positive caster angle). The shorter '71 Mustang shocks were used for 2 reasons, (A) to shorten up the total suspension travel a little after lowering the Ranchero, and (B) after lowering the car the original length shocks were too tall & would bottom out hammering the shock's valve/piston assembly.Dave C. wrote:Dave, I watched ur video...! IIRC Greg was messing around with different weight/thickness oils in the front shocks. I think he might have also been playing around with roller spring perches on the front & an anti-roll on the rear of the car, but it's been a while I could be wrong.
