Removing pilot shaft bearing
Crank I have came out of a truck with a clutch and has a roller pilot bearing in it. What is the best way to remove them besides a hammer and punch to take it out in pieces?
Re: Removing pilot shaft bearing
Fill the cavity behind the bearing inside the crank with grease, find a shaft that fits the bearing snug with the grease filled to the outside of the bearing start the shaft into the bearing then hit it with a hammer. It will force it out. Just make sure you have the shaft squarely lined up.

I have also used a exstention and wrapped black eletrical tape.around it to make a tight seal and hit it with a hammer to blow them out.

bread works ,better than grease ,the tool in the middle doesnt have to fit all that close.

Re: Removing pilot shaft bearing
Believe me ,it works great, once you get the cavity filled behind the bearing . Sealed or not, bushing style or bearing style .
