Has anyone tried welding up the chambers and reshaping to a modern chamber design? If so, what were the results? (class mandates correct head)

The relocation of the valves in the new scj generation of heads allows for the tight figure 8 combustion chamber. One could weld a small squish shelf on the plug side of the chamber however it effects intake flow at high lift.

Blake did a bunch of chamer work on a set of oc d2's a while back I seem to recall it worked very well, but probable wasn't worth the expense if you have to pay for it

Spend your time and money on the exhaust side first, before you start welding the chamber. You have a intake capabale of making 900 hp+ but exhaust only to a bit over 800 with out welding.

I have welded up and reshaped aluminum head chambers, but doing this to a cast iron head is a hell of a big job, and you take a chance of cracking the head. You need to get a well know shop to do this, if you decide to go that route.
