Class rules usually dictate. 4 link is a whole lot more adjustable. And probably easier

If there is no restriction, 4 link all the way. My bronco had a Chris Alston kit and it worked great, if you are going to do it, don't skimp on the rod ends. I had one crack, fortunately I found it on the trailer, not during a pass.

Definitely check the rules where you race. It wouldn't be too much fun to get bumped into a class your not prepared for. My class allows for ladder bars but not a 4 link.

I did a 4link on my 89 chassis and I wouldn't do anything else on a strictly competition vehicle. I had a custom set of frame brackets made that bolted in place of the front spring mount. No 4 link is going to be cheap, but neither is a ladder bar setup if you put good double adjustable coilovers with it. You are going to spend at least $1k to do it right, and maybe more depending on how you do it.

My next set up will be a 4 link.
