A460 valve ??

Can you run a 2.40 intake valve in a Ford Motorsport A460 head with a 4.440 bore??

Yes, but it aint the preferred way to go.

A little work at the top of the bore would help matters.

A small notch I guess is what your referring to?

No, no notch required. The exhaust valve is the closest valve to the bore.

A notch is not required...it is to enhance performance.

What about the valve relief in the piston? Will it be large enough for the 2.40 intake ?

J B B has already called me about this twice this past week, so I assume he's talking about your engine. Is that correct?

Anyway, most likely the valve relief in the piston will not be big enough. As a general rule of thumb, your valve relief should always be +.125" bigger in diameter than your valve head diameter. However, it's no problem to flycut your relief bigger with a piston vice and a Bridgeport. Lawes and I have a piston vice and I know J B B has one too.

Yes,it's my engine. I just thought I'd ask on here before bugging him with any unneeded questions. I know he's busy and hate to cut into his shop time.Thanks for all the info.

why the smaller shortblock?

Because that's the size of the Piston that he has on hand to use. Kind of a swap meet build,that should produce great power w/heads that he has.

X2 I bought parts as I could for the 552 if I count the heads on it it only took only about a year to get everything and I have some $$$$ in it but not as much if I would have went out and bought everything at once.
