new 460 build
Ok guys need a little help !! I'm helping my dad upgrade his 460 in a 68 f100. Currently the eng that he is running is a D1VE A2B block that have been bored 030 over with C8Ve-E heads. The heads have mild port job on them. We are looking to upgrade. First question is should we stick with the D1VE block or swap to the C8VE-B block that we have as a spare. Second, we want to upgrade to A460 heads. Which heads will be best bang for the buck? We want to do a stroker bottom end. Our goal is 700 - 750 hp. what do we need to do to achieve our goal and can it be done with the stock blocks. So with this being said ...
1.) d1ve block or c8ve block
2.) which a460 head will help us achieve our hp goal
3.) 521 or 545 stroker
4.) or what do we need to do the get the 700-750 hp
Any info will be greatly appreciated. We are on a budget but have some $$ to spend. (maybe we call sell of our chevy stuff).

Re: new 460 build
For 700-750 hp I wouldn't spend the money on A460 heads.
I'd use a stock block, the D1 is fine, Stroke it to a 545.
Add some P-51 or ford racing SCJ's and your in the ballpark.

Thanks for the reply . What is the wait time on p51's? Or where can I pick up a good set of SCJ's ? We are also looking for a vendor to buy parts. Do anyone know where to buy quality parts without a lot of hassle.

Lem Evans at BF Evans Ford is a good source, He's a Ford Racing Dealer and Carries a bunch of other lines.
Jon Kaase is another good source.
As far as lead time on P-51's I'm not sure, I picked up my last set at his shop about 5 months ago and and their where a number of sets on the shelf then, not sure if they where already spoken for or not.
