GUY'S I'M THINKING HERE (BAD THING). I'M CONFUSED. I have a set of new oliver rods and i think they require to torque there bolts to a certain angle or stretch? why if the bolts are ARP and they recommend a specific torque. i lost the paper work at this time so i'm just pondering here

If you talk to any fastener design guru they will tell you that the best way to measure the clamping tension is by the stretch of the fastener. Using torque only is a simple quick method that generally gets you in the ballpark. If you want to be certain stretch is the preferred.

Here is a link to Oliver's web site...The bolt stretch specs are in the catalog section. http://www.oliverracingparts.com/downloads/ORP_Catalog_2013.pdf
It depends on the bolt you have. The BBF applications that I commonly see use the Oliver/ARP WSB bolt that stretches to .0053" to .0057" using the supplied ARP or Oliver moly type lube. I just always remember .0055" for those.

Call Oliver up, they seem to change the specs from time to time.
