running a 700 hp bbf, 10.5 slick or 315 drag radial, ladder bar, 4.10 9" gear.3100lbs, 95 mustang in no box foot brake racing or street class, 1/4 mile racing
what trans? power glide, c-4,c-6 ?
1) will the tire handle the tall first gear of the c-4 or c-6
2) will a well built C-4 handle the bbf long term
3) WILL THE CAR BE A DOG ON THE STARTING LINE WITH THE POWER GLIDE?
4) reliability and consistency being most important

thanks in advance

PG for the win on small tires. I went 10.1's with a glide, Iron heads, 3.89 gears and 28x10.5's for years..... It wasn't a dog.

What is the engine build head compression ect.?

In my opinion at 700 hp bbf with the weight of the car it wouldn't last long . Freshen ups or rebuilds would be a constant thing with the c4.

C6 would work and be consistent if the trans is built right and has the right Valve body. Suspension tune from my experience is a little harder to get right with a c-4 or c6 over a glide! I think The C6 would be a good choice and that is what I would run!

For most the glide will be more cost effective for future higher hp build and consistency . You may have to change the gear ratio to like a 4:30 with the PG to make it launch the way you want . I hate to say it but, a PG is a good choice and has a lot of aftermarket support.

On any of the transmissions that you choose a good converter and Valve body are going to be a must ! good luck! Smile

the c6 worked great for my 460 making 575hp it is stock with a B&M shift kit with TCI 4500 stall but it didn't hold up to my 552 went to slipping bad and heated up last Saturday on the 1st pass with the new 552 an it should be making 700 to 750hp.I am going to a pg now but what ever trans you decide on go head and get it built for more hp than you are running.

A lenco drive is the toughest and the best, but is expensive.A glide would be my second choice. Best bang for your buck pg.

So you telling me the best PA C4 transmission rated for 1000 hp. Is junk? For a drag car that only gets appx. 12 passes in 8years?
Am not meaning to piss anyone off just sayn may be okay for me. I only have a 408W with a bigshot. Its got be be faster with the C4 then with TKO trans am running now.

Sorry to upset everyone. But everyone says c4are junk . I would say yes for a drag car that gets run every weekend with a BBF like a 514 or bigger.

If you are going to screw up a mustang by putting a BBC in it, Then why are you worried about putting a glide in it? beside you will find some way to make it really slow any how.... Like I said before get your 408 fixed and then worry about going faster
