557 P-51 BUILD AND DYNO RESULTS
Thought I would share this for those who are interested in the P-51 heads.
Best power was at 28* timing
Headers were 2 1/8, wish we could have tried some 2 1/4.

The three center caps came from Engine systems, the rear cap is a Program Engineering, and I made the front one out of 4140.

Re: 557 P-51 BUILD AND DYNO RESULTS
Have not been to the track yet, we had brake issues had to put a bigger master cyl on the car. He is supposed to take it this weekend I think.
One thing I can report, the engine before would stall at 5500, We stalled it before it left the shop and it went to 5800, BUT when I checked the timing it was on 22* because he had a starter saver on the car and the timing was set at 27* on the dyno so it had pulled 5* out of the timing. We did not try to stall it again but I feel it probably would have went to 5900-6000.
I think we will end up having to put gear in the car because it only has a 5.13 and would not turn 6000 rpm at the stripe before we redid the engine, but we want to try it with this gear and then we will go from there.

Update:
Customer made 3 passes today at the track, he was not sure what the density altitude was but the track sits at 2800ft. We ran the car with the 5:13 gear and it only turned 6200 at the stripe so we need to put more gear in the car. Engine made peak hp at 7000.
2515 lbs
Launch rpm 5000
shifted @ 7000
6200 @ finish line
1.16 60 ft
3.48 330
5.17 660
123.5 mph....... The mph is off at the track he runs at, all the guys say it is way off, I know this same car with the old motor ran 124 at another track
How much do you guys think more gear will pick it up?

Car seems to be riding the converter for about two hundred feet before it will accelerate, we ordered a converter from PTC we will see what it does in couple of weeks.

Re: 557 P-51 BUILD AND DYNO RESULTS
Got the PATC converter put in
Launched at 5000
shifted at 7000
4500 DA
Ran a 5.05
We have done very little tuning due to working out some bugs, I believe with some better air and some tuning there is a 4 second pass in there.
The converter picked it up .07 in the 330
The mile an hour cone is short on this track so add about 10mph they say.
