Hey I was bench racing with a few car guys who happen to be GM LT1 & LS aficionados.

They were talkin' about how great these teeny 346 CI motors are, I mentioned the 429-460 BBF and how it is a natural for Street & Strip duty.

What do 'Yawl think about this combo? :
468 CI BBF
460 +.040 bore forged pistons( 13:1 CR)
Ported Edelbrock Victor Jr. Aluminum Heads
6.8 inch forged rods
Victor Single Plane intake
1050-1150 Holley Dominator setup for E-85
Cam:0.726/0.726-inch lift ground on a 108-degree LSA.
Factory 3.85 inch crank
1 3/4-2 inch headers

What do you think Torque & HP output would be and what RPM band would this be good for? scratch study confused

X2,Stick with a stock length 6.605 H-Beam rod.I would think 675-725 horsepower would be possible maybe more.

Later Mark.

You may find a less expensive ring package with a different bore.
You may find 13:1 CR is a bit much for street operation.
You may find that a common rotating assembly that offers additional displacement is more cost effective and efficient than the 466 displacement you are planning.

Just my guess,
Dave.

I'm no pro, but I understand a lot if guys are getting away 13.5-14.5 as an e85 limit. I swapped my street compression 521 (10.8:1) and love it so far, except for the milege. Rolling Eyes   As far as power, I'd bet 650 or better with the right guy porting the  heads and choosing the right cam. Just posting the lift and LSA is sorta vague as to what you are planning.  And we've all seen plenty of power made with stock length rods and factory cranks, but it is pretty easy and similar $ to up the cubic inches

A +.060 overbore(12-12.8:1 CR) with a 4.15 crank & 6.8 inch rods(i.e. 509 CID) would be better than the 468?

The cam was the second choice for the SAM built P-51 headed 532 that was showcased in a Fox Mustang by Popular Hot Rodding Mag.

The Edelbrock Victor Jr SCJ heads are they worth the $$$ to use and what does good porting cost?

before I ever threw $$ away on Edelbrock heads, consider TFS streets or if you are buying pistons anyway, maybe some A460 heads
