no the first one was 2intake. Friday nite me my dad and one other friend finished up the truck with the tranny and we fixed 2intake and we notice that 7intake had a line on it. we all 3 looked it over and decided to put it back on and run it. it made it 3 passes last nite and broke on the 4h pass exactly where the line was.

Just an off the wall question ........... How close to coil bind are you? and have you looked at the pushrod where it goes down through the head ?? Possibly binding at some point in the lift travel ?

We had the WW Shafts on ours with no problems except we bent a stand when firing the car off ( Threads in head stripped or bottomed out ) but that was not an WW issue. Although, we had a ton of valve spring issues with the comp948 triples , kept breaking outers (14 to be exact) And I religiously checked spring pressures ( with a top of the line Buxton Enginereing Tool) and did the routine oil changes much like yourself. After coming to no good conclusion other than the break on the springs was clean and had small porosity holes in the spring wire I made the switch to a PAC coated spring and had ZERO issues from there on out. New owner has had ZERO valve spring issues also as far as breakage.

I'm seeing a pattern here Dave. Thanks for pointing that out.I'm going to talk to them in a little while. They have TI valves. And for your ? Dave C. no other visible damage, but I'm going to make sure the intake comes off and the lifters get checked under a light and magnifying glass!!  If it's busting rockers ,the lifters are taking a beating too. I think I may know the cause of this problem now after thinking all night about it, Dfree's comment set off a light bulb in my head! Thanks, maybe we can get on the right track here now!

George has a fresh set of PAC 1224 springs. I'm sure Jetboat Bob did not mis-install them [installed ht.]

Getting back go your valve spring issue....BAD BATCH is what the deal is. Aint no way in hell there could be a bad 'batch' of rockerarms Rolling Eyes

Yes ---------- as in bad batch of Deisels and semi-bad batch of Eco-Boost according to some. Neutral

6.4 injectors has been the latest thing.

its awesome to stick a 6007 in a truck and then have to go back into it and replace all 8 injectors before it even leaves the shop.

Another way to look at this subject is that George and Dan probably put more passes on their engines in 1 season than 90% of us do in 10yrs.Nothing breaks if It sets in our garages all summer.Embarassed

Randy I assume you made it to Roseville well and intact. Good to see you last week and I apologize for the brief "good-bye"! As we left the restaurant Saturday a lady was trying to park a bus and I quickly offered her a bit more room since she was trying to park the bus in a tight spot next to my Mustang! Then Charlie nabbed me up for a drive into the country side and a bit of conversation. As usual I enjoyed assisting your EMC effort, although little assistance I was! Maybe, no promises, I can make the EMC this year, I'll keep in touch for your invitation! ... clown  ...

Dave.

I don't think the rocker is the problem here. We'll find out and report back to you..This problem is not located in the engine compartment or human error related.

Working with aluminum for years I have seen aluminum brake from being scratched deep it will brake in the scratch if it see a lot of stress in that area. If it gets a deep scratch/you can catch your nail on or feel  and if you can grind/polish it out with out having to go to deep it will help keep it from braking where the scratch was, billet is a lot stronger than the extruded T series aluminum but it does have it's weak points too. I am in no way saying this is your problem just a few things I have run across building stuff with Aluminum for Pace American when I worked for them.
