i got a code it says vvt on bank 2 does cleaning them do any good, looks to be just a solenoid with oil in it, thinking maybe it got dirty

Clear it and see if it comes back, won't hurt anything, and if it's a false code, great. Thought you said clearing, not cleaning. If you can clean  the solenoid passage, easily go for it too. Dirt may be letting them leak through setting the code. Have you cleared the code before?

code i am getting is p0022, which is camshaft overrtetared..i changed the cam sensor and it did not help and i cleared the codes, codes came back whithin a few miles

How many miles on engine 2 valve 3 valve 4.6 5.4L and go from there? Is truck running different or bad, what year is truck?

2004 3 valve 5.4 163000 miles..had new plugs and phasers..chain..etc last year..idels rough..goes away sec you give it throttle

Wish I could help you more but, at this point trying would be a diservice to you and may cause you more problems. It sounds like your code could be caused by several different parts or a combination of them, as most codes are. Hopefully someone with more experience with these engines will chime in. Maybe this will bump it back to the top for you and get more responses?

replaced the cam sensor and the VVt solenoid, new coil, still has rough idle and like a miss at idle but goes away instant i hit throttle ..still a P022 code

think the cam phaser are out again, its got that diesel sound to it again

took truck to a well know shop yesterday, they replaced the cam phaser last time while truck was under warranty, its the same thing, but on way how i guess they went totally out..truck is running on few cylinder..just found out that livernois ford makes a lock out kit..after reading all day, i must say WTF , i should have done this years ago, seems to be awesome

Well I hope that takes care of it for you. My wifes Oldsmobile Allero had the service engine light come on. It was a camshaft sensor code. Replaced it, and code went away as well as the hard start condition. These overengineered computer controlled cars can be a real PITA sometimes. I had my fingers crossed when we started it, that there would not be something else wrong.
