So this straight gas differs from another gas that is leading an alternative lifestyle?dfree383 wrote:E85 only. The metering is different for ethanol vs strait gas.MiamiSC wrote:So if I convert to an e85 carb does it only run e85 after that or I could run race fuel through it?
Once you decide on a fuel and carb, it's always a good idea to just stick with it. Without a hydrometer, you will never know what you have exactly, and catastophic damage will happen.

Yea its 10% ethanol down here. One of my heads is missing aFreeze plug looking thing but its actually smaller than a freeze plug on the engine. Where can I find one?

Re: 460 advise.
Found out today the previous owner was running 100LL aviation gas with this engine. I started working on the car today and got the engine ready to come out except fuel lines, exhaust and engine mounts.

You may want to rethink the IRS if your planning to run slicks with this combo.

Are ARP head bolts really necessary on this engine?

Reuse them if they look good, and threads aren't messed up.

Re: 460 advise.
Ok so I bought a msd blaster 2 high vibration coil. Tomorrow I'm picking up a ford duraspark from auto zone. I also found a Mallory hyfire box, research says it should be just as good as the msd 6al but cheaper, is it?

Ford duraspark will work fine ,but not until it's setup correctly.

If thats what you prefer. I like recurve and light springs personally unless you want to mess w/timing retard.

I guess whatever is easier. I found a good link on recurving looks pretty easy.

By government standards, station pump E85 can be anywhere from 62% to 89% ethanol.dfree383 wrote:

It will be different almost every time you go to a regular station pump; same as pump gasoline will be slightly different.

I think I'm going to do 93 octane fuel with about 5 gallons of avgas. I work in the airport, I just have to see if they would sell it to me if I show up with my car.

Show up with a gas can, they are not allowed to pump it into cars.MiamiSC wrote:I think I'm going to do 93 octane fuel with about 5 gallons of avgas. I work in the airport, I just have to see if they would sell it to me if I show up with my car.
