Pushrods.
The engine that I'm putting together (466) I bought as a short block and got a box full of parts. Lifters, rocker arms, pushrods etc. I know the lifters I need to throw away because they weren't marked. Where can I buy a set like these?. The pushrods I have 16 in total but I found one bent and another longer than the rest. I don't have a caliper with me but they look like 8.5" or maybe a few thousand more.
Where can I buy two new ones? And the nuts for the rocker arms look like kool nuts if they are can I just torque them to 22 ft lbs and half a turn of the Allen for the adjustment?

Re: Pushrods.
In my opinion, you shouldn't want to use thos weak OEM pushrods, anyway.
A good, hardened one piece chromemoly pushrod of the same, (correct), dimensions would be much better.

Can you recommend a set? I thought my lifters where hydraulic but after searing they look like solid lifters, can I re-use solid lifters? I have a Solid lifter cam.

Re: Pushrods.
If it a solid flat tappet you need to buy new lifters unless the used lifters are on the same lob on the same cam but dont use a set off another cam. Randy can get you what you need.

Re: Pushrods.
Like Randy mentioned you have Iron Cj heads with guide plates so you need hardened pushrods. The ones you have the guide plates will chew them up.Also in the other thread you mention you have a solid cam.You need to find out what the lash is on the cam.Do not torque them down, you will need feelers gauges to set the lash.MiamiSC wrote:The engine that I'm putting together (466) I bought as a short block and got a box full of parts. Re: Pushrods.
Thanks Mark, im looking for hardened push rods. I have zero specs about the camshaft other than it is 600 lift. Anyway to see cam specs without pulling it?

Re: Pushrods.
I have a.few sets of scj push rods in the shop. Compaction products and comp cams. Everything I ran was roller so the lifters I have won't work with a flat tappet cam. I'll pm you what I have got.

It might be possible to check the front of the cam or the back and get some numbers off of it?MiamiSC wrote:Thanks Mark, im looking for hardened push rods. I have zero specs about the camshaft other than it is 600 lift. Anyway to see cam specs without pulling it?
