Streetmaster 460 on D0VE heads
I bought a Streetmaster intake manifold for my 429. It has the rectangular exits going into the heads, and my heads are oval I believe , the same as a D2VE head. What gasket will I need to use.?

If your going for anything other than gas mileage, you may want to go a different route. Here is some info on that intake.

X2 you need to think about a performer or performer rpm.
If you want a low single plane, the Current Torker 2 is a decent piece too.

You guys think the stock dove-9425 will give me better performance? Can you explain? I'm new to this and just want to understand.

Yes, the factory intake will go down the track faster, like Blake was trying to explain to you before, the street masters are for mileage not performance. They are too small for a BBF.

Yes, the runners are very small on the street Master to speed the air up and help off idle response and low ent torque and fuel mileage. It will be down on power over a stock intake or performer.Bigred69 wrote:You guys think the stock dove-9425 will give me better performance? Can you explain? I did notice from looking at the intake passages that they were kind of small compared to the stock intake. Well, that makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up.

Lay a stock 302 gasket on it to compare.

Re: Streetmaster 460 on D0VE heads
Those manifolds I think came out after the 1973 opec. oil embaro in the mid to late 70's when people were scrambling, for anything to improve gas mileage. No reason to run a BBF now if gas mileage is a top concern. Back then we had to, or buy a small econo box, or go to a smallblock. I would sell it or trade it for a better intake, like mentioned the factory piece was better for performance. It would almost be a sin against humanity, to bolt it to CJ/SCJ heads if you have any, even if it would seal up.
