Emergency killswitch/ shutoff for truck pull
Guys I am trying to figure out what the best method would be for my ignition kill.
My thought is to buy a 15ft 10 gauge extension cord and make a cord cap (replacement cord male end) into a jumper loop that plugs into the female end of the extension cord with the ring attached to the cord cap. then if the truck breaks away it will just unplug the cord cap jumper killing the ignition.
Where do I wanna tie in a kill switch into my coil ground or my ignition box ground? I hate to have the igniton box ground extended to the back of the truck but I wanna be able to pull.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Is the kill switch just suppose to kill the engine or the entire electrical system? I would think you would want to kill power to everything in a break-away situation so the disconnect would be the main battery cable feeding the entire system.

I ask the same thing. They want the ignition shut down. I figured they would want the fuel pump too. I may do it just to cover myself.

I think it will be much easier to kill everything no power going to the ignition box or fuel pumps would be what I wanted and should satisfy the rule.

I used a round 4 wire trailer connector on mine all I did was grind the hold tab off the flap.. 9 years with not one problem. Killed the ignition and fuel pump.

I have my fuel and ign. on the same switch. That way you don't forget to turn fuel on and run out going down the track. Seen it happen many times. The 12 volts going to that switch goes through the kill switch. Might not be the best but it has worked fine for 10 years. This is what I have always used for a switch I remove the lanyard and put a big ring on it.

I currently have my fuel pump and ignition on separate relays and separate switches with lights. I ask this and nobody at the meeting new. Do I kill the relay trigger positive or the main feed?

Kill the ground, not the positive. I believe that is what is recommended by MSD. Just run the 2 grounds to the rear of the truck (go up 1 or 2 wire gauge sizes)

Just to add a little more safety, you want to run the ground wire for msd box and the fuel pump to the rear, through the connector and terminate at the frame close to the connecter. Don't try to break the coil feed on the relay because the contacts have been known to stick and not shut the pump or ign off. By breaking the ground on the units, you are guaranteed to kill the unit.

How about a pair of these. Ran in a loop on the ground side of the battery. It would make an easy, affordable, pull apart disconnect.
