what the most nos you can spray with standard moly ring set?

I sprayed 250 on ine and everything looked ok, the moly will flake at some point though.

I am spraying 200 on mine with the top ring right where I run N/A .018.

Ain't saying it's where it should be, just what I did. so far so good.

My paper work says top ring gap is .029 second ring is .020 and oil ring .015.

500 fogger with 500 twin plate.. blew the moly off the rings in less than 7 seconds. Went to hellfire steel rings. Butted rings with a .030" top ring gap on a 4.625 bore.

Haven't run the fogger yet. Gonna get going on motor good first. I want to hit with no more that 300 to 350 shot.

might be ok for awhile..... might not. The tune is gonna need to be spot on. Is this a flowed set up or just a out of the box kitwith generic jetting etc?

been doing some research on ring gap for nos. Came up with .008xbore for top ring and .0055xbore for second ring. and at the same time I read second ring needs to be gapped bigger than top ring for nos. So I guess I got more research to do:bounce:

Its a pro race fogger, got it used. I believe its a 4 spread.

At the Bash it dropped it from a 5.70 to a 5.40 and mph went from 123 to 139.................

It was a sphincter tightening adventure:shock: It never quit spinning all the way down the track.

I haven't gotten to the track to try it this year.

If it drops the E.T. as much on a good track, it may run a teen........... or better.Rolling Eyes

In case I missed where the rings are located, can I include in this discussion where is the top ring located in regard to the piston's deck surface? Recently I have noticed pistons used with large amounts of Nitrous (500 hp - 600hp). ALL ring locations are moved down considerably and separated. I feel assured a moly faced ring will withstand small or irregular amounts of Nitrous although a moly faced ring would not be my choice for regular large bursts of Nitrous. If the ring package is lowered on the piston it may survive longer than it would if raised or in a "standard location".

Agree with Dave, big load N2O, top ring down .250 to .400 depending on how big a load and what's available in the piston to move em down.  .300 to .350 is good/great for 500+ loads.  Expanded area between top and second ring, with LARGE second ring gap prevents the top ring from unseating due to pressure buildup between rings causing ring flutter.....  If it gets past the top, make sure it moves past the second ring.  Second ring is really final oil control package, not compression maintanance.

not sure where the top ringland is. My piston sheet says the compression height is 1.245 does this mean anything? wasnt planning on hitting it with any more than 300 to 350hp shot.
