F250 4x4 w/460 for $250, worth it or not?
My buddy has tabs on a 70`s F250 4x4 with a 460 for $250. From what Ive been told it burns oil and was ran into something so it needs a radiator. Im seriously considering getting it just for the motor and scrapping the rest but then again I do have a need for a truck. What do you guys think?

Heck, the front axle alone is worth $250.

definately not. I wouldnt even consider buying it. 70s F250 4wd trucks are ugly and 460s have no power.
Where is it at again and would you happen to have a phone number?

Yeah, you might have slid that through on a brand X forum, but not here!!
I would just like to find one that isn't all rusted to sh*t!! I hate Canadian winters.

oh great, now I found a 65 F100 while on a delivery. I spoke to the little old lady that owns it and she said it was for sale but didnt say how much, just that its been sitting for a really long time. Aside from a couple dents up front and surface rust in the bed the thing looks amazing! And the worst part is that now I want to "frankenstine" the 2 trucks and have a 65 pickup 4x4 with 460 power, I must be some sort of sick puppy...

Here's Dad's '66 4X4 Street Stock Pulling Truck.
It's on my "To Do" list and I'll get to it one of these days.......... Need to put it back on the street but first I need to pull the 428 and go through it, been sitting a while...

This is a very common and actually quite easy swap....especially if your F250 4wd is a 77.5-79.
Good luck with it and please post some pics.

I went and checked out the f250, its a 79 crew cab, long bed, stick shift, also has a tow package on it. The guy ran it into something and messed up the passengers side fender and cracked the radiator. Also aparently it makes a bad noise when you lock the front hubs and put it in 4wd. If I gett this behemoth Ill need to find a place to keep it while I get it put back together. Also on a side note, it burns a 1/2 quart of oil per tank of gas, any ideas on what might cause this oil consumption.

4wd crew cabs are extremely rare and its likely to have a D60 front axle (worth $1000 give or take) depending on GVWR.
This is one helluva deal.
EDIT:
scratch the 60F idea. A good friend of mine who is building a crew said none of them came with a 60F....44HD only.
