what year is my C6?

Hi guys,

how can I find out what year my C6 tranny is?
It doesn´t have the tag anymore. It does have a VIN or a casting number stamped in but I couldn´t find anything about it.
The number is: 6B183730.

What are the technical differences between ´67-´76 and ´76-´96?
I really couldn´t find helpful information online..

Ok just forward of the shift linkage are 2 round cast discs, will have month and year

There are few differences over the years internal but the main one is slight differences in the valvebody.

Ok, I found this two discs.
One shows 76 the second shows 16 and 2
Is it: February 2nd, 1976?

Do I have the early or late version now?   

The Transmission is completely disassembled so I can check everything to make sure what version it is

I just did a 76, that will be a late version. The valvebody should have the extra reverse checkball in it.

I´ve red about the checkball but some late models had it and some didn´t.
In my case I don´t have a checkball for the reverse

That is a latish model. Yes some earlier ones had a bolt on cover at the PR valve . With no reverse checkball in the VB it should have the reverse piston with the ball and the return springs will be individual springs
