Vavoline 20/50 Turning Dark after 4 passes ?
Im running C16 racing fuel, and never had this problem before, but just put new oil and filter and made 4 passes at the track and the oil looks dark...I have had this oil in boxes when it was on sale at autozone about 5 years ago...Is it the fuel or bad fuel causing this, Car ran realy well , but hadn't figured out what it turn dark soo soon...First time the car has seen some higher rpms since motor was built new...

the detergents in the oil is just doing its job and cleaning is the most likely cause. I don't think excessive fuel is the problem unless the oil stinks of gas bad.

I noticed the same thing when pouring in my VR1 20/50. The last few drops were darker than the rest of the quart. Do you think an additive in the oil has separated?

When I worked out at the nuclear plant they would dispose of any oil that was 6 months or older, whether or not it had ever been opened...maybe they weren't being overly cautious and wasteful like I thought.

I have another case in the shop from last year. Maybe that $2.00 off a quart has a reason

The additive package in the oil probably has changed since the oil you bought , that's usually why oil goes on sale ! that's what an oil rep told me anyways , 4 years ago here Walmart had 5w30 & 10w30 Quaker State on for sale , 5 litre jugs for $5.99 , called my rep and asked what was the deal? He said a new additive package was out and that was old stock ,so I bought a whole pallet Cheap!!! It takes allot of oil just to change the oil in the all pickups and 3tons!
