CLOYES OR FORD TIMING CHAIN
GUY's THE FINACE DEPT IS BUSTING MY BALLS RIGHT NOW FOR OVER SPENDING MY BUDGET. So with that said i was looking to replace the motorsports timing chain on my current build as the old ford deal has a few years on it. but they have gone up alot in cost. I see the cloyes is the same deal but way more cost effective for me at the moment. anybody thoughts?
Also dose anybody offer one pre drilled for 2 pins?

Re: CLOYES OR FORD TIMING CHAIN
Cloyes has different levels for timing sets. The good ones are the original true roller and the race sets. The big difference is in how good a chain you get. Something to think about the steet true roller sets sell for about $50 and the good chain used in the better sets cost about $65 for just the chain.
The good Cloyes sets are no cheaper than the FRPP offerings. I've been told the FRPP stuff is made by Cloyes, but who knows, plus you are buying something that they are outsourcing so how good it is can change. A Rollmaster Gold is about the best and always know what you are getting.
Guess depends on what you need, but I'd say if you need it double pinned you need a good timing set too.
My first pick be a Rollmaster Gold, then Cloyes original true roller or RACE billet, then the FRPP stuff.

Re: CLOYES OR FORD TIMING CHAIN
As has been said ... the gears are pretty much the same quality from everybody and the chain is the major difference.
The sets with the German chain are the best, (AWIA, I think is the name), the U.S.A. chain, (Reynolds), is slightly behind and the other offshore stuff can be good or bad.

Re: CLOYES OR FORD TIMING CHAIN
Rollmaster Gold with the IWIS(German) chain is the deal. As far as I know they are the only ones currently using the IWIS chain.

Talked with Roger at Kaase's shop and they are having a hard time getting the cloyes gear sets. They only sell the Motorsports now

Re: CLOYES OR FORD TIMING CHAIN
Just want to give a shout out to Lem for providing me with a new Ford timing chain and getting it drilled for me. How ever the chain has a logo looks like jws? Is this the current German chain? The pins in the chain don't look like they are rolled over very well
