1000 hp combo
Alright I want advice from you guys that have prior experience. I wanna know different combo's I could use to "easily" hit that 1000 horsepower mark. Basic info on what I already have is the TFS A460 Power Port 360 heads out of the box no work done to them, matching TFS tunnel ram. I already have a Enderle bird catcher hat so will probably stick with that and run mechanical injection. I basically am reaching out for advice on finding the best internals for the power I want. I'd like to run 557 or 598 but like I have said Im looking for any advice I can get. I've already been quoted that I wont reach a 1000 hp for any less then $18000. Just really wanna hit that 1000 mark though. Thanks to anyone who can help!

you got a quote of $18 k, so you know what it takes for parts/labor.
you looking for a lower cost 1000 hp?

Re: 1000 hp combo
Well everyone runs different set ups and achieves their goals different ways so I'm basically looking to see what people have had luck with in the past. Looking for advice on strong bottom end parts, really leaning towards a 598ci motor but like I said I'm willing to listen and learn to whatever anyone's willing to tell me.

The bigger the engine the easier it gets.

I did a used parts C head deal for about $15k. Randy Malik put it together for me and we hit 1050hp with it. Like Freelander said, more cubes will make it easier.

598 for sure. your $$ goals depend on a lot of things."good" parts cost more but broke parts are priceless! do you plan to build it yourself?

1000 horsepower.
If you want to easily reach that goal then you'll get there far easier with supercharging. You can get an 871 blower or 1071 blower kit for $4500/5500, and a descent set of blower pistons compatible with your cylinder heads for less than $1000. It will cost more to attain that number in a normally aspirated combo.

Re: 1000 hp combo
To address the "best internals" part of the question...you are going to get many opinions. Here is mine.
Start with a good block. Ford Racing or Eliminator. Go for a 598/605 setup 4.600 or 4.625 bore.
Next, get the best 4.5" crank that you can afford.
Use the best 6.8" steel rods that you can afford. Oliver's have recently skyrocketed in price, so the higher end Callie's or Crower...something in that class.
Diamond makes several off the shelf pistons for this combo. Use a premium straight wall pin..no tapered pins.
A small dome .110 or so...should get you near 14 to 1 CR.
Go ahead with the roller cam bearing option.
Pick a big $&?#*%..ing cam. Dual pin with a quality chain setup. My generic pick is the good old Crane R276 grind. It will get you over 1000 hp and have good spring life.
You have the correct heads. Use 7/16" pushrods, the best stud mount rockers that the budget can handle with a Jomar girdle.
Use your tunnel ram...remove any boogers from the runners and do a basic port match.
You will surpass 1000 horse with any carb or mechanical fuel injection that you choose, gas or alky.
Get a really good oil pan and pump combo. Look hard at an external pump.
Find a machine shop that is fluent in Big Block Fords. The normal Chevy shop will struggle with the finer points of the 10 liter Ford. Proper clearances and small part selection is vital along with assembly methods.
This basic setup will make a durable 1000+ HP.
Sure... Lots of folks are making that power with modified stock blocks, Babbitt cam bearings, Eagle rods...more "budget" parts, but if you want durability and no BS, that is my input.

Do you have any parts at all? Or are you starting with nothing? NEVER MIND .

Re: 1000 hp combo
Copperhead's 598" made 995 hp with unported 340 power port heads & a 1 x 4 manifold. With 360cc ported heads and tunnel ram a lot of things would have to be done wrong not to zoom waay past 1,000 hp.
