1250 vs 1450 dominator
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew or if there is a formula to tell me how many hp is another 200cfm worth? and I just recently ran my car and have yet to tune it in, but I used 1 of those cfm calculators and it says with a 598ci motor to turn 7600 rpm I need 1450 cfm carb. even with my car turning 7100 rpm in the traps with tight convertor it said I still needed 1375 cfm. thx.

My builder recommended a Quick Fuel QFX 1450 for my 598 and that's what I went with. He said a 1250 would've worked, BUT,.... I'd be leaving a few hp on the table. Not to mention, I wouldn't have any room for growth down the road when I wanted to upgrade the engine at a later date.
FWIW,....
I ran a 1250 on my 557 and it seemed to perform well.

1450 ftw. ProSystems calculated my 557 for a 1390 cfm. single 4

1450 qfx on my p51 headed 564". Runs awesome. Carb gets on the 2step a lot cleaner and quicker than my 1250 did

is your 1450 an out of the box deal or a Oakley special

This past week we had a 648 "Big Chief" Chevy on the dyno with a single, well tuned 1450 QFX; the customer had a new Holley 1350 in its un-opened box; part number #080909RD.
We had to chamfer the upper edge of the Jomar "PowerCone" so, the 2.350" throttle bore would line-up.
It was impressive.
It made about 4 less peak horsepower at the same RPM with about 23 lb/ft more peak torque at the same RPM; Right out of the box.
It had a TPS on the side for computer controlled ignition timing which we didn't use.

nice ! , I wonder if the gen 3 1250 Holley would be a better choice than a 1250 quick fuel
