525 A460 New Dyno results Empty 525 A460 New Dyno results

Post  steven gregoire June 10th 2014, 9:51 am

Built a new 525 A head motor over the winter.  No Dyno time just build it and put it in the New Dragster.    without any major tuning  I ran 7.72 @ 175 MPH in a 1900lb  engine on a stick

Motor is a460 block, Crower 4.125 crank, Oliver 6.80 rod, 13.5-1 comp Diamond Pistons, As cast a460 340 CC heads with 2.30 intake,  Ultradyne .750 lift cam with 112 center line. WW 1.7 ratio shaft rockers, Danny bee belt drive. TFS intake, Gary Williams 1050 Dominator

This sucker is deadly.   this weekend ran  7.728, 7.731, 7.730, 7.738, 7.734.   i may never change my dial in again

Thanks for the parts and advice this off season Lem !

Nice that's how you brackett race. How big is the bore, how much do you turn it and what is 1/8 mile #

its 4.500 bore.     i shift at 7400 and cross the line at 7500. with 33.5x17 hoosiers and 4.10 gear.    and it ran a 4.93 @ 140 mph in the 1/8th mile.

im putting taller 34.5 slicks on it to get it down around 7200 RPMs

wow both of my junk only turns 6800 at the lights with a 33.0 tire in one car and 33.5 tire in the other with the 4.10's. of course this is a mile with a density adjusted altitude of 8800-9400 feet.

525 A460 New Dyno results Empty Dyno update

Post  steven gregoire April 18th 2016, 2:26 pm

Well i made some upgrades, and got it on the dyno.

Send the heads to Total Engine Airflow. 2.35 intake 436 @ 0.800, 1.88 ex 335 @ 0.800

New Comp cam from Lem Sorry guys i dont have the cam card, but i will scan and post later if interested.

951 Hp @7500
735 ft/lbs @ 6100

30* timing.

i did try VPs new X 16 fuel. it made more power that C12,C14,C16. pretty much better than everything. That being said, i would expect the oxygenated fuels to make more power. Im just NOT spending the money.

Thank you for you help this off season LEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice build! How much power was the oxygenated fuel worth?

thanks guys.   i was quite happy as well.   im sure that i could ring more out of it if i went for the big port job.   But it is a bracket dragster.

I did not even try Q16 or other oxygenated fuels..Since i knew i was not going to tolerate the cost or the fuel system maintenance. The X-16 i am running is not oxygenated. it is VPs new fuel to give the Natural aspirated guys a fuel with a much better vapor point compared to C16. and its a hell of alot cheaper that C16 too.

Those are really good numbers. I don't think mine is making that much. I am running a 526ci. With the old motorsports A heads. 4.29 stroke x 4.42 bore. The bore does hurt the heads some. Well I think they do. But it is a Bracket motor. Best I ever ran is 4.94@139. But its consistently 5.05@136. My Dragster weights 1968lbs with me in it. I think the 4.50 bore would help it out some. But it's going into a door car now and will be plenty fast for the no box and hot rod car

Cool  Steven, go have some fun.

The engine would love some Q16 and a 1250 carb. Wink

Sorry i took so long.  i did promise cam card and dyno sheet.

I know the AFR looks lean, but that is not the o2 reading.  It is the calculated AFR based off of air flow, and fuel flow into the bowls.   enjoy !

this is a nice build...did you dyno it with the same 1050 you had before the modifications?
