NEED MORE GEARS
GUY'S I HAVE BEEN THINKING THAT WE NEED TO SWITCH FROM 4:11 TO MAYBE 4:33. WE ONLY CROSS THE FINISH LINE JUST AT 6900RPMS.

Re: NEED MORE GEARS
this is something I copied off this board a few years ago.
if your unsure about your gear ratio, take your et x's your mph = ?
if your answer is less than 1335 you need a lower gear ratio
if your answer is more than 1335 , you need a higher gear ratio
if your answer is with in 10- 15 its close enough unless you need every bit of et

The curve from 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile is NOT linear so x2 won't be right. The second eighth mile you would not be starting at a standing start and low speed compared to high speed acceleration is not near the same.
EDIT: Six seconds in the 1/8 is not hear twelve seconds in a 1/4 mile and 100 MPH 1/8 mile won't be near 200 MPH in a 1/4 mile, either.
Re: NEED MORE GEARS
WHOA, 1331.7 for me. Good guessing ..... I guess.

Re: NEED MORE GEARS
I have 200 hp worth of Steve's cowbell on it now. Just need to get to the track to dial it in. Last time I tried it was at the US 43 race.

Re: NEED MORE GEARS
ok just looked at the best runs and this is what i came up with using this math. 1332.483 for the 557 hard tail car and 1339.65 for the 555 4 link car. guess i'll stick with the 4:11 for now. would like to try a 4:33 gear just for grins

Re: NEED MORE GEARS
I have changed back and forth from 4:30 to 4:86 gears with a 105 circ with several different engines and converters. Every time the 4:86 has been quicker and finish line rpm changes very little . The lower gear doesn't slip the converter as much .
