Re: I need 16 fast Ford's Labor day weekend
I've been sitting back watching all this chicken on a stick talk....
Ya know why I love running door cars in a bracket ???
Because the driver's get all worked up racing a dragster.
And they taste like chicken when that azz gets fried.....

Should be a really good race.
Are pit spectators welcomed and how much is that entry...? I may make that trip just to mingle with acquaintances if it seems feasible.
Come on over Randy, you can hang w/me and Tore.

Not making fun of dragsters...You oughta be flattered. I'm saying it's usually not so easy to send one home. Since I don't care to have a race handed to me, dragsters make the sport more challenging. Doorslammers are legal in SuperComp, but how many competitive ones do you see?

Mav,
I was being sarcastic...
I don't take the doorcar vs piperack stuff serious, as I've heard it all over the years.
I believe any consistent car, with a good driver can win on any day..
You know what they say.." If you get in their head, you've already won...."
Dial it right and drive your race.

Very true. If car and driver both do what they're supposed to do, then who and what's in the other lane doesn't matter. If I didn't believe that I'd stay home. You guys with the long cars don't make it any easier for us cab drivers, though. And to make matters worse, you usually feed 'em alcohol.
Sorry I didn't spot the sarcasm, there...sometimes the typed word just doesn't do it.
Shakespeare said "Brevity is the soul of wit." I think he was dead wrong...a little sarcasm is hard to beat.

I remember the older AA/Comp cars which had a wide dragster front frame attached to a door car...
Geez, I'd like to see some of those race again...

Those were some good days. Back then you'd see some wild ideas on a dragstrip ...with some crazy bastards driving them.

You certainly could make it fit all the safety rules.
Being a car with a complete cage, body and operating doors, would that be considered a DOOR car...?
Re: I need 16 fast Ford's Labor day weekend
I was just thinking, Harold's car won this event last year. He will be missed for sure.

I am, the weather Saturday is looking good. Hope everyone else can be there too. We need to support this event to keep it going in the future. Dont forget about the sweet corn festival a few miles down the road from the track. Always a good time there after racing is finished for the day.

Wow, I'm here and the scene is less than previous years by a large margin.

I talked with 3 different car owners over the past two weeks and they all gave me the same answer ... (paraphrasing), "I am not subjecting me and my car to the agony of a bunch of Mustangs beating up on one another and getting lost in the shuffle"
When I said I was told this year would be different; they all said ... "Prove it".
I guess they have their answer as almost every Ford owner who didn't race a Fox Chassis seemed to feel the same way.
Re: I need 16 fast Ford's Labor day weekend
I went Friday and the count was pretty weak but it was Friday. I was hoping Saturday would be better but didn't feel like making the 5 hour round trip to find out. The Y Block group made a good showing of 50's cars though.
Here is one for you Randy.

For how much racers complain about the NMRA I would have thought they would show up to this event so they could be the main event instead of the filler. Heck even for a test and tune Friday you could have made 30 passes if you wanted.

Re: I need 16 fast Ford's Labor day weekend
We spent about an hour and 45 minutes one way to be there. It is too bad NMRA and racers can't meet each other half way.
