Good rods? Empty Good rods?

Post  fe50stang August 21st 2014, 4:16 pm

It's about time to freshin up my motor and replace the old Howard's aluminum rods. I was planing on using the scat h beams but I was told by a few people that I'm reaching power levels that demand a better rod. I'm not against spending money on Oliver rods if I need to. I have just been more concerned about my stock block. Or am I getting bad advise? Thanks in advance

Here's the current motor specs
520cid 4.390 x 4.300 stroke
13.1 compression
268 276 .726 solid roller
Ported A429 heads
Victor intake and alky dominator

Runs 5.85 @119 in 2900 car

In an engine package like yours the Scat deals with the 2000 bolt upgrade do a good job.

Oliver and Crower also build excellent very high quality rods, but they are more expensive.

You might look at Molnar Technologies rods. They are superuior to the Scat offerings in quality and workmanship. Sizes and weights dead on.
I'm very happy with mine.
