I wish I knew where it was but there was a thread on this on (I think) the old site. I'll look for it for you.

if you change the rod bolts wont you have to have the rods re-machined, adding to the cost of just the bolts?

Jim,
If you go with some truck rods, and balance it good you will be fine, especially aslow as you have been spinning it. Dont waste your money.
Regards.

these rpm 4130 rods (LG4-6605I) look like a good buy at $168. Scroll to the bottom of the home page.

Unless you have access to a machine shop to perform the work yourself, or after you spend money for rod bolts and rod re-sizing, a set of Eagle Sportsman Series rods look pretty good! Remember, it's the "duty-cycle" that is the "rods demon"! I feel sure a part that has been around 40 years or so has seen a cycle or two, don't you?
Just my usual $0.02!
Dave.

I dont a new set would be a problem Dave.
Jim, Paul has them N.I.B. He bought Lem out on them.
BTW, if you go stroker later. Buy one of the Ford Racing 4.3 inchers. Theese are stock journal size Then just get pistons to go with it, which are a self item which will be cheaper than custom down the road.
We have a member here with a 8ooHP 514 using Boss- S rods with no problems. Turned it 6,500 all day long, and 9.5 compression too. You know him. Give him a call.
Regards.

Re: looking for some good 460 rods
thanks Al for the info I am bumping my compression up to about 12.2.1 if all my figures are right I am pulling the stock dished pistons out and putting in flat tops That one reason I was thinking about new rods

Re: looking for some good 460 rods
The truck rods would surely be better with that compression. You can bush them too for .990 pins if ya want and float them too. If ya do a 1/8th hole needs to be drilled in the small end so it can oil if ya float them.
If you look around you can find them. Heck, I bought a set NIB for $40 bucks!

Re: looking for some good 460 rods
The Scat H beams are the best bang for the $$$ IMO
By the time you float, Recon and add bolts to the stock stuff you 60+% the purchase price of the Scats.
Honestly Whats a $100-$150 more dollars for piece of mind???
But not to sell the stock stuff short they do work.........

Re: looking for some good 460 rods
You dont need the high-end bolts if he keeps it under 7,000. And you dont have to bush them if he dosent want to. I said N.I.B.
But you should check them anyway, ESPECIALLY THE CHINEESE SHIT DAVE, or any rod for that matter. I would pollish the beams. Which you can do yourself Jim. The beauty of the truck rod is more ways you can go pin-wise. They have their limits RPM-wise. But what hes doing they would be fine, especially a bracket motor.
