I have a question on rotors, please. I have moser 40 spline axles and need some basic rotors that will work on them. The dia of the rotors I been looking at is to small. Thanks for any help.

I have a rear disk setup from Aerospsce Components on my '58 Custom with Moser 40 spline axles.
No issues with fit or durability.

Here let me back up a lil bit. What im wanting to do is go with the Explorer disc brake brackets which is a solid one piece deal and calipers.
My axles have 5/8 studs. What rotor will work? Kinda trying to stay away from the $500.00 range and still stop.
thanks

Measure across the axle and then check the rotor to see if the rotor will fit over the axle if it does just have the hole drilled for the 5/8 studs. I would have a machine shop open them to keep them true or if you know someone with a Bridgeport then they can do it, doing it with a drill you may get the holes off.

I can drill to 5/8 and I saw where the id of the rotor can be opened up to fit the axle.

Don't forget to check the OD of the axle's brake drum/rotor center register vs the ID of the rotor's center register hole.

As for drilling the rotors for the bigger 5/8" drive studs, I don't think a mill is needed if the bolt pattern it's self is the same axle vs rotor. If they both have the same bolt pattern, and all you need is going from a 1/2" hole to 5/8" for the drive studs, then a drill press and a stepped uni-bit should easily get the job done.
