Bob Gliddens Pinto
The other day I came across some pictures of Bob Gliddens Pinto after a restoration. What size rear tire did they use back then? 14x32W? These things are huge.

I was fortunate to get to see that car and watch it race a few times in the 70's.I have some photographs somewhere.I'm pretty sure they were 14x32.That was huge back then.

That thing looks like an Ed Roth cartoon without the Rat Fink sticking out the top.

IIRC 14x32 Firestones are era correct. Firestones were used by almost all of the P/S cars running at that time.jasonf wrote:.........What size rear tire did they use back then? 14x32W?.........
Probably because most, (if not all) P/S cars at that time were ladder bar cars. And the short wheelbase cars made it worse since lack of room meant the dr seat had to sit on top of the front ladder bar mount instead of in front of it. So having a usable ladder bar angle meant they had to sit kinda high in the back.72mav wrote:.........didn't stuff the tires as deep under the cars then, like they do now........
