I have been wanting another Excursion for a while now. This truck has 122,000 miles, 4x4 and 6.0 diesel. What is some things I can look at that can tell me about the condition of the truck & engine. The body looks to be in great shape and the interior looks good besides the drivers side seat cracks like all Fords! Do you think 122,000 miles is too much? I have seen a lot of them with 300,000+ miles.

If I purchase the truck I will be taking a trip a couple of weeks after purchase. I would plan on taking the truck to a Ford dealership and having them look over it and perform all maintenance items.

Anyone here have a good Excursion, 4x4 diesel?

Set aside about 4k to spend on the issues then you will have a dependable rig.

What are the first things you would do?

Would you delete the erg or do a bullet Proof kit? How do you work on the engine in a Excursion, lift the entire body off the frame?

The main problem I can see tha I will have is finding someone that knows how to properly work on the 6.0. You would think every Ford dealer tech would know everything that needs to be done to the engine. i wish I could find an 03 model as I really like the original setup they had. They had a trailer braking that would throw you into the windshield and a awesome sounding turbo. But it looks like I will be going with an 04-05 model.
