carb tech question
I have a 950 quick fuel q drag race carb. going to nee to step up to a 1050 for my next build can I just change the main body? the car is driven to the track about 15 miles raced then driven home. We do drive it around town so it's not a total track car. my next question should I go to annular boosters also? Having to ask the
questions here cause it seem the tech lines at holley and quick fuel are to busy to answer my questions be waiting since Thursday for a callback.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: carb tech question
I wouldn't run the annular boosters I've never seen them make more power.
And yes depending in the parts you have on your 950 it could be a simple body swap. Depends on your base too.

Re: carb tech question
I don't think it will make that much difference at all, I've ran a 1050 Dommy and changed to a 1150 Dommy and made no difference in my ET's or MPH, I think you should try it and just jet it up a little and see what happens, good luck

950-1050 swap
429cj I tried the same swap you are talking about this past Oct. I have a quick fuel 950 with annular boosters .My thinking was with a down leg booster 1050 main body I would pick up some mph and lower et.I picked up maybe 1 mph and a tenth or less .This was with pro forms main body for both the 950 and the 1050 I didn't really have time to do to much jetting experiments as this was the final bracket race at my local track.(Reynolds Ga.)My 67 comet ran a 6.84@99 mph previous best time was 6.96@98 mph.Kinda think my 950 was more than enough for my 466 cu.in.

Re: carb tech question
I think a gain of more than a tenth in a well sorted out car is pretty good results from a simple change....especially without further tuning.

Maverick you are probably right
I guess I was wanting a little more mph .I tried using the recommended jets that came with my new main body on Saturday (96-86) and leaned it for Sundays race (94-84) it ran the quickest on Saturdays tune .My car is 3400 466 edelbrock heads 8" convertor 4.10 gears I kinda think Mr. Freedlander is right about annular boosters at least for a fulltime drag car. Regardless those Proform main bodies work good .I have one of their 750 main bodies on my 66 comet and it has been flawless .Someone with an 850 would probably see more improvement than I did going from 950-1050.Good luck on your carb swap 429cj .Doug
