Hi,

New member here and I must say I am excited to be apart of this site. I have a 79 Ford Bronco and my 400 is blowing up so i decided its time for a 460. I am using this bronco for mainly fourwheeling but want to kick some diesel ass. I have a block out of 83 f-250 with the original heads. I am going to do a mild port job, chambers polished and port match with a 750 holley carb. With roller rockers with 1:73 ratio. It will have 9.5:1 compression. A performer rpm dual plane intake. With a comp cam Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 270/278, .050 duration 226/234 Lift .554/.574. I would really like to know what you guys think this motor will make. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke

Add a 545 stroker kit to your list, add a bigger cam and carb, you'll have them covered in the torque department too.

Do you guys think it would be worth the money to go with super cobra jet heads or stick with the original?

If you have the money it a worthwhile upgrade, but you will lose the stealth.

You'll need to watch the pistons too, the ford Racing SCJs have different valve locations and much smaller combustion chambers.

Ok. They seem really nice. How much power do you think they will add. What do you mean by stealth?
I really appreciate all of your help.

Thats awesome! I am not too worried about the diesel guys knowing. They think there stock diesels will be able outrun my bronco. I just don't think this will happen considering i will have more power and about the same torque but in a 3000lb lighter bronco. Would you recomend a different cam for this build?

OP, what is the budget? yes the heads are worth the cost. you add up the cost of the parts/labor to mod the stock iron heads?

plus the short block must be in good shape.
