Re: Merry Christmas
WELLL.... if we want to really celebrate Jesus birthday, the party is sometime closer to Easter.. As that would then make the biblical version of traveling for Roman census and tax match the rest of Roman records. The Catholic religion in its effort to compete with paganism adopted December 25th to coincide with the pagan celebration of life, targeted around the winter solstice. Most of our Christmas carols and Christmas traditions are carry over from pagan rituals and beliefs. Deck the halls... common practice from paganism to cover the castle/and or domicile with Holly and Evergreen, to both remind of the happier times of spring, as well as DEFUNK the premise and add fire retardant humidity.. bringing in GREEN boughs would release moisture into an environment typically heated by a large central fire. Yule LOG.. large central fire. Many castles had an OPEN fire pit, they simply drug in a massive log, and then drank and ate as long as it burnt. It was the midst of winter, no longer able to go to the garden and get fresh vegetables, and such for diet balance. Time for fatty foods and drink as the body needed calories just to sustain heat..... so the meals were laden with figgy pudding, heavy pastries (lots of animal fats,(original fruit cake/pound cakes )).
Not bashing a belief, I will be at Midnight mas as well. But the church didn't keep its lie straight..... and thus the contention between believer and non. It doesn't matter what day we celebrate Jesus birth.... be it Tue or Dec or March... recognition that he changed the course of religion and yhe practices of the people is as applicable on Dec 25th... as amy other day of the year.

Merry Christmas y'all.
I worked until noon today, but I'm off until the 5th.
I just started with my current employer November 3rd., it has been a great career move so far.
