mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
I found a bellhousing for a 460 can I use mechanical clutch linkage with a 95 bronco I think the bellhousing is 87 I can find out if it makes a difference
Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
I thought all the trucks/Broncos had hydraulic clutches after 1981 or so. Not sure how you would put a mechanical clutch in without a lot of fabrication.

I thought that the cut off date for the switch from mechanical to hydraulic clutch linkage was 85-86. You could use that set up if you can find a complete one. Or one from a early 80-85 pick up with a 460 might be easier.

Has anyone heard of using 460 bellhousing and cluch on internal balanced motor maby having machine shop rebalance
it to zero
it to zero
Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
Any of the early 460 style mechanical clutches and bell housings were for internal balanced engines after approx. 1979(D9TE Blocks) was when the 460's went to external balance which changed the flywheel and put a hatchet weight spacer behind the balancer. I would guess you could get someone to rebalance an external balance flywheel back to zero balance but why not just find an internal(zero balanced) flywheel from a 460, 429, or fe(360,390).

1987 should be for hydraulic clutch

Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
Even if I have to use hydraulic slave and master can I use the 390 cluch I'm not trying to drive you crazy I don't know how it works putting together different types and years together I can turn wrenchs and weld but when it comes to swaps I'm a little green I can get everything that goes with this bellhousing so I thought if my 4 speed bolts to it and I could get rid of the weight I'd be good to go
Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
I have never done this swap so I can't help any more than this

You should be able to use a hyd clutch/pressure plate on an internal balance flywheel.

Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
I read somthin about the crank sitting out half inch farther on 460 or external balance flyweel being half inch thicker than 390 flyweel some people talk about needing a spacer with 400 bellhousing I don't know if the 460 bellhousing will solve this problem or make a new one I found a page talking about removing weight from flyweel but I can't find it again
Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
As long as crank sits out same distance Isshould be good can someone tell me it's the same
Re: mechanical clutch linkage in 95 bronco?
Everything looks like it's going to work out thanks for the info
