Carbon/Polymer composite distributor gear
There is now a company who manufacturers a carbon/polymer composite distributor gear for 335 & 385 distributors.
Meant to be used together with any camshaft core material of alloy steel, nodular iron or cast iron.
"Tri-Tec Motorsports" is the company which is located just north of here in Swartz Creek, Michigan, (just west of Flint).
The gears are $125.00 each
Their phone number is 810-655-3900

So that means you can put that on your distributor and run it with any cam.

What kind of endurance / stress testing has been done, RPM, temperature, fracture, wear? It would be nice to have a universal distributor gear even at 2.5 x the cost if it is tried and true.

Call them and find out if you wish.
The cost is the same as any other brand composite distributor gear for other engines.

Re: Carbon/Polymer composite distributor gear
I have not used the Tri-tec one but I have had a comp one in my sbf for a couple years now. I pulled the distributor in the fall and it looked brand new. Not any marks or wear at all. I have seen some fubar ones online but if it is not installed properly of course it is going to wear like crazy.
