Never used one but it sounds like a good one as it excites at 800 rpm rather than 1200 like most. I would buy it if it was me

The alternator looks good but I am not fond of the small pulley, unless you just street drive it, or have a really small crank pulley.

I have one from summit like that. Only problem I have is you have to excite it in the lanes. I'll drive to the lanes and later when it's your turn you have to excite it. Mine will go from 12... To 13.7-9 once you do that.

Never had a problem with it and I still charge between rounds for extra insurance. I mostly have it for the round robin deals at the end of the night.

My crank pulley is around 4" I think. Small one on the alt.

One thing to keep in mind is that 800 rpm cut in rating is based engine rpm and the pulley it is supplied with, and probably the standard diameter for crank pulleys. So if you change the diameter of either one to slow it down, that cut in rating will change also. Just a thought  scratch to remember when selecting alternators and pulleys.

How do you excite a 1 wire alt? Is it just revving it to a certain RPM, or do you use a switch of some kind?

This is the same alternator I have run for 6 years now. 4 inch pulley on the crank and have had no problems. I idle at about 1300 rpms and it charges great. It keeps the red top charged, and I don't have to charge between rounds.

Couldnt tell you Dave. Its a 1 wire going to the battery. This morning I backed it out the shop. The volt gauge read 11.9 or so. Once I tapped the gas above 1300 it jumps straight up to 13.9. Then when I let it idle back to 1000 or so it will stay at the 13.9. Maybe I have the wrong pulley size also?????
