I am arriving from the other direction but, like last year I would be stopping for a meal at the Texas Roadhouse just outside Louisville on Dixie Hwy. where 60 meets 31W. Checking google says it is closed now so, I hope it means just that it hasn't opened yet today otherwise I will have to find another place on the way.
I am sure that doesn't count, though...
I bet Charlie knows where it is/was ... I think he knows every Texas Roadhouse in the Midwest United States.

I-65 south travelers you may want to stay southbound on I-65 until exit 102.That is Ky 313 and it runs into Hi-way 60,make a left on 60 and your about 20 miles from the track. might save a lot of stop and go on 31W. Just an option.

Not near the Texas Roadhouse in Owensboro, though.
Certainly the best way to Fort Knox,

Going south from Corydon sure gets to be some narrow road once in a while.
I have gone there by all those routes and 31W gets crowded during rush hours but, to me it would be the best when pulling a large trailer.
Re: Roll Call for Texas Roadhouse Thursday 6:30
I agree with biglucky those coming from the north and down 65 best bet pulling a trailer or not is come to the 102 exit(hwy 313) as he described. I live 500 yds from the newest 313 extension that was opened and it would be an easier pull than coming through corydon and fewer traffic lights that 31w. hope to see y'all at the racetrack!

What about the ones of us coming on I-65 NORTH? Looked at a map and it appears there is more than one way to get there.

coming north on I-65 take the first Elizabethtown exit(I think is exit 91) onto western Kentucky Parkway then take ft Knox exit(1st exit you'll come to) onto 31w bypass, go thru two lights and exit onto hwy 361(another new road) to Radcliff take that road to the end and turn left on to hwy 313. If this doesn't make sense you can call me at 270-668-3624

SO, that road from exit 102 is all new from what it was two years ago... correct? THEN, if you'd break down you would be there for a while but, you are saying things are different now, right...?
Just trying to fully understand.
IF that is the case then I will be eating at the Texas Roadhouse, on the way, right off I-65 just north of the Gene Snyder Freeway. If it is still there, that is.
Re: Roll Call for Texas Roadhouse Thursday 6:30
Randy. From I-65 exit 102 is HWY 313 and two years or so ago it ended in vine grove and from there you were driving on smaller two lane roads to get the rest of the way to U.S. 60. About two years ago they opened the new section of 313 all the way to 60 and it is a wide 2 lane road(built to be converted to 4-lane in the future). Yes between 65 and Radcliff there isn't much but it is only about 15 miles I believe. If someone has problems on I-65 between Louisville and Munfordville or hwy 313 or the other roads I mentioned feel free to call me and I will come help get you back on the road. My number is 270-668-3624

Just looking at mapquest there are 3 ways
From my home in Alabama going through:
Elizabethtown as you describe: 348 miles
Getting off I65 at Bowling Green and going straight north on KY 185: 298 miles
Getting off I65 at Bowling Green and going up the Natcher Parkway towards Owensboro and then getting off onto KY 69 at Hartford: 314 miles
Is the route that much better going the longer route by 50 miles? The last one (314 miles) looks pretty good with major roads except the last 35 miles or so.

So...the same ole Roadhouse we have been meeting at for years. How far is that from the track? Not sure after 10 hours and 510 miles if I should drive to Owensboro.

Pulling a trailer the way I described will be your easiest pull/drive, option 3 you listed will be on smaller roads and slower driving and might save you 20-25 minutes if you are able to drive the speed limits on those roads your more likely to end up behind a tractor and get slowed down. Option 2 is your shortest route but will be a curvy two lane mid sized road and might be 30-35 minutes quicker. Me personally I would come to e-town but that is the roads I know better. Talked to my uncle who drives a semi he said he would use option 2.Hope this helps

Coming north on I-65 you may want to consider coming on up to exit 105 which is Lebanon junction and then heading back south. It,s easy off and back on and then take exit 102.From there you will only take two more left turns and the second one will be turning into the track.Just an option.

David,
I talked to Bobby Anthony a few years ago about option 3..
He said the road was NARROW ..
He said that they had met a truck coming the other way and
wasn't sure the road was wide enough for both of them..
Just relaying what he told me, as I had thought about it too..
Also, be advise that there was alot of construction on 65 North of Bowling Green..

Why would you do this?? The 1st exit off 65 is a cloverleaf exit and where you have to slow down the most to get on the WK, the exit off the WK is an easy exit and so is the new exit onto 391. I would bet if we both were on I 65 north you go your way I go mine I will be at the track unloaded and ready to race BSing before you pull in the gate.
