Going thru traps
At what point on the track should you be achieving max rpm/hp before you go thru the traps? How far before the finish line is what I am wondering? 300ft-200ft?
Hope you get the drift. Thanks Tore

at the stripe you should be at peak HP so if your engine makes 600 hp at 6500 rpm than thats where your engine should be when crossing the stripe, so gear and converter come into play also.

Ideally as close to the stripe as possible. Any extra time spent in the area where the motor doesn't make any more power is a waste and somewhat harder on parts.

Some bracket racers set up their cars to reach max HP well before the stripe for what they believe are consistency and stripe driving advantages. Personally, I like my car to pull hard right to the stripe.

For 1/4 mile drag racing, Set-up gearing to have the RPM at the finish slightly past peak horsepower but, before the power starts to fall-off a bunch.
Usually the power curve falls-off slowly, just a bit, after the very peak so, don't go past the point of that distinct drop-off.
Every engine, vehicle combination and situation will be different.

My little 4 banger gives up at the 1000 ft. mark.
Different gears are on the way.
