Dumb stuff. lol
This would be a C6 input shaft.
They are typically installed well before you get to this point.
Luckily, it all comes out easy enough.
I feex'd.

There's no law that requires you to tell people when you do dumb stuff like that. If there were no witnesses...you can keep it to yourself.

I was cleaning up the other night just after hooking the driveshaft and steering shaft up. I opened the top drawer of my toolbox and there was the input shaft...... right where I left it for safe keeping. Well, it was safe.

If they can be paid off with a beer, they're not to be trusted....can usually be bought with another one.

Re: Dumb stuff. lol
I put the flex plate on backwards on my buddy's 7.3 last summer...Easy to do on those LOL....We had a laugh after we pulled the tranny back to fix it. ....I saw one of my co workers put a CAT C15 head on and torque it up only to realize the shim plate that goes between the block and head along with the other head gasket were still sitting on the bench....He was pissed!

Re: Dumb stuff. lol
Everyone does dumb stuff... most dudes just aren't man enough to admit it.
My favorite one that happened with me was like this:
I'd rebuilt the steering gear box in my truck. Well with the headers and all in the way it was easier to remove and reinstall it by pulling it up instead of down, so I took the brake lines and proportioning valve out to make room.
anyway, got it all back together, figured I needed to bleed the brakes, etc. My vacuum bleeder had died on me so I figured I'd do it the old fashioned way and flagged down the wife to step on the brake pedal while I cracked open the bleeders.
She kinda huffed and puffed about how busy she was, blah blah blah but came out to the shop to help.
So. I'm under the truck doing the old "Ok, step down.... up..... down.... up......" routine. Now I wasn't getting ANY fluid, so I tried another bleeder. Same scenario. Went back the first bleeder.... nothing, just "ok, step down.... up.... down"
Started cracking lines at the master cylinder, wondering if maybe the master failed, or if the proportioning valve was locked up.
So I ask the wife, "Hey is the pedal getting any harder to press down at all?"
I ask this as I am on the ground and peek into the cab.
She says, "Nope, not getting any harder at all," As she stomped 5 more times on the gas pedal.
So yeah. I had to change the oil too.

Re: Dumb stuff. lol
same deal with me, I had my 9 year old step son in the car and told him to pump the brake pedal while I crack open the bleeders, so I herd him pumping the pedal ok hold it down, no fluid and we did this for several times and still no fluid, so I told him to pump and hold it down so I could look and see what was going on and behold he was pumping the clutch pedal LOL!!!

Worked with a guy in a Ford Dealership in the late 80's (damn I'm old) that did a head gasket on a 4 cyl front wheel drive car. When he got done engine would not turn over, it would not budge. He pulls plugs and still won't move. Finally finds he leaves rag in number 3 cyl. I laughed at him and said looks like your doing that one twice. Next thing I know he has torches with rosie on and he burns up rag through plug hole. She ran and left the shop but I always wondered how long she held together.
