Rear suspension opinions.
So - I'm knocking on the 9 second door...My car went 10.08 last race in OK air, good air should dip me into the 9's. We rebuilt my 1050, leaned it out slightly on the front and went with a much higher heat range plug - man what a difference!.... I'm running 134+mph out the back door so that's enough to have me running in the 9's more often. I'm still running SSM bars with adjustable uppers, stock un-cut springs and strange 10 way single adjustable shocks. No ARB at this time either. The car hits the tires REALLY hard now, bounces to the right a smidge and she's gone. My best 60 is 1.43, most runs it's 1.46 or 1.47.
If I make some rear suspension changes I'm trying to decide what to do. I was looking at some CE double adjustable lower arms, a pair of Strange bolt in coil over rear shocks (stock location) and a Strange ARB kit. My buddy did his over but with a mini tub job, it was all set up on scales and it runs straight as an arrow now. I can have the same guy help me set mine up too. I'm sticking with my 28 x 10.5" deal with stock tubs. Let's hear it, I'm listening.

I would do the ARB first and cut one round off the springs if you don't like it put the coil overs on it... Car is running strong good work

I'm worried about cutting the coils and ending up with a body rub. An ARB will be the first purchase when I have some $$.

Team z has a set up that is proven and works. Customer support after the sale will be better than CE. Have you checked your torque boxes? Those SSM bars are notorious for ripping the hell out of them.

My torque boxes are mint. Fully welded in place as was the rest of the car. It was welded front to back on a rottiserie by a past owner. I've been looking around on line at different kits....Pricey stuff LOL

check the mustang specific forums....seems like I often see take off parts available in the various classifieds. in a drag only application, I'd also consider Wolfe and Racecraft Inc. pieces. Additionally, If I recall correctly, thos SSM have 2 different mounting holes one hits the tires harder than the other. Do you recall which hole you're in currently (wait a sec....did I say that out loud?)

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
If you were looking at not minitubbing the car I would look into a set of adjustable lowers (pretty much any will work) and a good shock. We like afco but do have a customer that 60's 1.09-1.11 every pass with QA1's on drag radials.
Keep the adjustable uppers you have.
then start looking at the front struts and spring rate and limiters to adjust the front end if you go with a cheaper style strut. That ought to get you in the mid to high 1.20's pretty easily.

I'm not sure what hole it's in but she ain't complaining LOL...right now I have an old set of Lakewood struts up front with coil overs. For the rear I was looking at Strange stuff because my buddy's have had good luck with it and I can buy it on this side of the border at a reasonable price.

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
I have 100% Team Z stuff on my car and 100% happy. With the turbo small block it was great. I use Strange 10ways on all 4 corners, coil over up front, stock springs in the rear which will be getting a coil cut soon. Hopefully mine will be making passes before the end of next month with the big block and I'll report back. I have the team Z ARB as well.
Re: Rear suspension opinions.
Cool. I'd like to hear the results.

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
I'm running upr stuff with C/E rear coilovers and QA1 struts with a 12"- 175 spring rate up front and a 12"- 110 spring in the rear .

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
Just remember on a stock suspension car about the only thing the rear springs do is to hold the car up while its sitting still and when you pull the chute.

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
His car is mini rubbed, I think he has QA1 double adjustable coil overs with a Strange ARB. Once he made the changes his car leaves much smoother. It used to bounce before.

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
Like Justin said the springs just hold the car up..... your shocks are the money maker and a stock suspension car needs a ARB in my opinion with out it the car will pull more and makes it harder to tune... the tire pressure is alot more forgiving with a ARB

Yes, rear is most likely in the 90-110 range. The better the shock the lighter the spring can be.
I have nothing against Team Z because I love their front suspension stuff but I prefer the TRZ anti roll bar with billet ends for most of our builds. If it's super high horsepower or crazy heavy we go straight to the 45 spline axle ARB design.

Re: Rear suspension opinions.
Reason I'm asking is because I have some 14"165's up front, no limiters. My car initially hooks, then spins. I'm thinking of installing limiters. I have Strange 10 way single adjustable's up front, set as firm as possible and maybe the 165's are a tad light?? Do the springs have any effect on rebound or is only the strut setting? I've been fighting this 60' issue for quite some time and am fed up and frustrated. Go to the build section, locate my build and towards the back of the thread you'll see what suspension parts I've installed.

rear compression is too loose and maybe extension too tight. Can you throw more power at it or are you all in?
