Neck restraints
Looking for some feedback on head and neck restraints. Necksgen, Simpson, Hans, etc. Pros and cons. Thanks

Re: Neck restraints
I'd say any form of neck protection is better than none. We use a collar ... Gonna switch to a Hans soon.

Re: Neck restraints
I use the Necksgen Rev.
It just takes a little longer to strap my self in the car. A little less side vision also.

Re: Neck restraints
This is one of the best videos I've seen showing the benefits of a neck restraint system.

Use Velcro instead of tape and you have most popular brands of neck collar.

Re: Neck restraints
I use the legal neck brace now but want to step up to something better. I don't want to spend that amount of money and have it not be comfortable or very hard to put on. I was in a traffic accident 5 years ago and still have neck pain. I don't mind spending the money but I want a good product.

We went with the Hans .. Easy to get on and off and not terribly uncomfortable.

Re: Neck restraints
Poppa Bear set us up with Simpons HANS and it really isn't much different than the foam neck pad. I actually use the foam pad under my helmet and through the release straps and run both together. We went with the D ring attachments, very easy to pull the realease straps without seeing them.

I use the Hybrid Pro (last 4-5 yrs). Its a dang pain in the ass vs. not wearing one for years but its for safety and now a must. Really you get use to it you just cant turn your head around in the car like you could before. As my brother in law always says its only needed if you wreck!

Re: Neck restraints
I use a Necksgen in my dragster. i love it. really easy to put on once your in the seat. just put it on your shoulders. pull the shoulder straps over it. and at the last minute you lock on the seatbelt style clips to your helmet.
My dad has a hybrid pro. he puts it on outside the car (due to the chest strap) and needs help hooking up his helmet. since he is never alone running a top sportsman rig , its not biggie.
Both are great safety items. one thing. without a neck collar you need either a head sock on helmet skirt for fire protection. i went with the helmet skirt. It keeps the wind out (dragster)

Re: Neck restraints
I ended up with the Nexsgen and have been very happy with it. Only disadvantage I have found is it takes a little bit of time getting the belts on the brace and not put your straps over the tethers that hook to the helmet. As long as someone is with me it is quick but if I'm by myself I have to start strapping in earlier then before.
